Title: Buyin an XJ. What do you think?
Post by: Duncan71 on June 21, 2009, 09:31:36 PM
Hey guys,

Im getting my buddy into Jeeps and hes looking at XJs.  Were going to look at a few in the next week and were wondering what we should be looking for and at what price range?  How are the transmissions in these things?  (automatics so AW4s I assume) and how are rust issues?  Hes not looking for a wheeler, just a nice clean driver with sub 160,000km and an auto tranny.

Look all along where the exhaust is close to the floor and right above the muffler very bad places for rust.

Depends on the year.  Pre-97 models that don't have plastic pieces on the bottom of the rear 1/4's tend to rust.  Also, the rear leafs are known to sag.
