My wife wants a 4 Dr Rubicon to pull out her hubby's YJ and son's TJ.
More or less loaded.
The question is what is the right price to pay for it?

nuxjr rob is the guy to talk to, I'm sure he'll get you the best possible price.

The next question is: New or used? X, Sahara, or Rubicon? I bought my 2007 rubi in Jan for 19,600. Private sale 38,000 kms. Full load minus nav (dont know if it existed in 2007) inc remote start. Best of luck with your shopping.

Hi Greg,
Depends if you are comfortable with used, or off the lot. Like TJ54 said, contact "nuxjr" if you're looking for new. If you're comfortable with shopping around for used, price all depends on what you find and what has been done to it. For used, kind of good to come back with info on it and details of what it has, plus price, for a thumbs up or down (just don't post how to contact the seller, as I have seen rigs bought out from under people before that way...hell, I've had that happen before to me).

when i was in the market for a Rubi JK 4 door, i saw one that was lifted , bumpers, 35's and it was listed at 23k. i was third in line for it. there was a couple i looked at in town that i really liked. but with asking price of just under 30k it was a bit much for second hand. i know of at least 1 guy that got his new at 30kish. i think another alternative is to buy a jk with a towing package, that has the 410 gearing and dana 44. put in the lockers you want after.
i also remember the 6 speed alot better than the automatics. hth

My $0.02.
If you know that you are going to off-road, a Rubicon is probably good value for your dollars. You would be hard pressed to get the lockers, gearing, 4:1 transfer case, and Dana 44 front (and 32" M/T's) as upgrades for the price difference between an X and a Rubi. With a manual and the long Unlimited wheel base (which means you can leave your stock driveshafts alone), you can put on a OME coil lift, JKS trackbars, wheel spacers (or steelies), and 35" rubber for about 3500. That gets you a vehicle with front and rear lockers, good clearance, good suspension travel, and 35's - pretty bloody capable if you ask me. You'll never match the breakover angle of an equivalently built 2 door...but they'll never be able to climb like you can either.
BUT
This only applies if you're not going to run anything larger than 35's. If you think that you're likely to step up to 37's, then you probably won't want to do it on stock Dana 44's....which means that you should probably buy a bare-bones X and then start shelling out for some serious hardware.

Very good points to ponder. You'd be welcome to give me a call if you like...403-870-5718. Does'nt matter new or used, I can help with both. If you would like some first hand 'testimony' about new vs used see if you can get hold of 'darcman'. Darcy & his Mrs just recently went through a bit of a rollercoaster ride with the purchase of their ruby. Call me, I can tell you some about it, was really glad I could help them sort it out ;).
