Title: Thinking about trading the Jeep for ?
Post by: barmanjay on June 28, 2009, 10:17:15 PM
Sooo

lately I've been thinking about my vehicle situation alot lately,...

I have kids and another on the way and the YJ is not very baby friendly.

The last couple weeks I've been tossing in my head the idea about trading for a stock Grand Cherokee and the likelyhood of anyone trading?

Right now without any commitments,.. would there be anyone interested in a trade for my YJ?

Just trying to feel better about gettiing rid of my YJ for something more family-practical

Do you guys think someone might want to trade?

Not really interested in the XJ's,.. the ZJ's and newer WJ's? is more my style.

95YJ
2.5l (swapped)
4" RE lift
33" MT's (with a full sized AT spare)
8500lb winch
CB
DIY snorkle
3 tops - bikini, cali-frameless, hard (broken back window)

It does come with a rear locker that's sitting at Lemonaide Jays shop

ZJ's are getting cheaper than YJ's.....speaking of which, didn't you end up selling off a couple of them real cheap early last year?

I'd say it should be easy to find a nice one for trade.

Smaller than the grand for cargo space, but not considerably so.  Keep your eye out, as they're going for $5000 now if you can find a good deal.  :)

Is a Liberty really that much more practical than a YJ?  I have a TJ and a 3 year old and 1 year old.  There is no room for the dog and if we are running errands, not alot of room for groceries.  That is why we have our second car.  Its a Ford Taurus.  Only thing is the wife likes to really be ready for anything when we are out and about, so we are thinking minivan.  I know a Liberty wouldn't do it for us.  Not enough room for gear.  A Grand Cherokee would fit us, but I still like the versatility and extra room in a minivan.  If I were you I would definitely stay away from the Liberty.  Then again, I have never given them a good look, but I don't think they have that much room.  I could easily be misjudging them.

right now, anything would be more practical than a lifted, bouncy yj on 33" MTs

family situation:

3 kids - 11, 8, 19 months and another coming, but prognosis is looking like another very premature baby.

cant safely put a front facing and rear facing in a yj, well i dont feel safe and the wife cant safely lift the kids up into the yj.

that's why the downgrade to a mall rated vehicle instead of a trail rated :(

my oldest doesnt want me to get rid of it, but my common sense says i should.

WJs are more than enough room.......... you can even take the spare tire out of the truck, put it on the roof, then you have a nifty compartment to store all  your trail gear without getting in teh way of the groceries :D

Four, eh?

Get a minivan.

Yes, I understand. But you said you were looking for mall-rated, not trail rated? Have you checked out the price of mini-vans lately?  No one wants them, and they're dirt cheap. Lots of room for everyone, plus groceries.  And if you find a good enough deal....

...keep the frikking YJ too.   Who cares that it's a minivan?  I'm sure some guys following me down the street are laughing at our little VW Jetta TDI or Liberty....until I turn in and park it next to the Willys and Dodge 3500.

sorry
i meant to say that im toying with the idea of more of a mall rated 4x4.

we already have a mini-van.

thinking about the winter aswell, and a family functional 4x4 would be such a bonus.

hmmm... & I have been considering trading my ZJ for a TJ or YJ..  I'm not what your looking for though..

This ad has been out for a bit..

Just in case it was missed from all the other recent post's lately.. It's clean & I've seen it driving around from time to time, a bit high in price I think, but you know how that works.. :)
