any advice for a cheap and quick tow point for the front. 98 xj sport. Other than buying tow hook brackets ($140) or a new bumper ($500). This will be my first time out to the ghost area with my jeep. I am stocked with tools, tow strap, Water, air comp, first aid, etc....I feel confidant about being prepared but would like a recovery point just in case.

Pm Lemon Aid Jay on this forum. He has brackets with towhooks for XJ's that are under $100 and new. Please don't ghetto-fab some tow points. It's dangerous to others who are helping you get unstuck. Don't be cheap with tow points.

Jay made mine, and they work great.  You'll have to pick up some bolts to install them.  For the largest bolt which is the furthest back from the bumper make sure the head of the bolt is not to large or else when you drive and hit pot holes or speed bumps the head will hit your sway bar and make a awful worrying sound, but if your like me and used to clunks and rattles then don't worry about it. ;)
