With you and slimbeam, I'd be down for it. A small group of experienced drivers that all have equipped rigs (read winches, snatch blocks, and know how to use them) and it would be fine.
The problem is that I'm still working on a way to put pontoons on my JK. If I can't do that, I'll have to get a VERY long snorkel to get there in time (I'm in Iran). ;)
-
I'll come, if it gets too deep we can allways turn around. Should be fun! ;) Besides, flooding my interior will help keep my feet cool in all this hot weather.
-
I'd be down for headin to Mclean Monday but i am not sure about this fisher east business... I am on 33's with tow points but no winch, Will i be fine or should i wait around and see if anyone wants to do a trail thats a bit less abusive?
-
You will be fine, Just bring tow rope
Tanner

I'd be up for going out again tomorrow...but don't think I can do fisher east. Got the 31"s but no winch or lift. Would just be tow straps.
-
i would run fisch east with a few well equipped jeeps too. even when its 'not that bad' i've seen it pretty nasty. i wouldn't want to run it to be honest. for you guys itchin to run it, i'll be leading an open run in the fall (november) and you can see why; in november all the bad stuff is frozen over so its not too bad. its different in the summer!!!! plus i hate mud
so i vote for sylvester trail. don't know if i've run, can't remember the names of half of them. i'd love to run shortcut to valley trail and see if it still pops out on fisch west, but i don't even know if it does nemore.........
regardless i'll be at the store 915
-
I am up for Sylvester...not that I know which one that is...see you guys in the morning 9ish
-
Yeah I'll be there tommorow at around 9 as well probably stick slyvester trail or whatever run
-
well im guessing for those guys who arn't locked and loaded front and back then fisher east probably wont be your best bet. if anyone has any other suggestions then, feel free to bring them up. regardless ill be at the store for 9 getting ready.
-
I might be a couple of minutes late getting to the store...have to friend coming with that gets off work at 8:30 so can't leave Calgary until 8:45ish...but we will be there
-
I'll be out with the wife and kids.
-
If a couple rigs are considering a more relaxed, less stress trail as it appears to be unfolding to maybe two groups, I'd be on for that. I'm not interested in mud since the third grade and would love to relax, enjoy the outdoors and take some photos. If that's an option with a couple others I'll head down from Red Neck Deer.
Something to consider: Esks vs. Skanks at 5:30 pm. I'm an Esks ticket holder and I intend to be home to watch this game from Calgary on TSN. That would have me leaving Cochrane by 3:30.
-
with how dry maclean is right now those holes are STICKY mud i hit a few holes on another trail on my 33 boggers and just made it because of the sheer fact the mud is so thick but the boggers pulled me through
-
I could be down for a run, haven't been out for awhile ::) I hate deep mud, but I know alot of the other trails and could provide input for those not doing Fisher East.
-
Im hoping to make it out but probably won't be able to by 9...hope to see ya on the trails

fun day today to all that came. hope you guys enjoyed 101 backwards. i turned back to the store as steering didn't feel great. got back home and it feels good though. front end needs some work after taking a good look. need a ujoint in the driveshaft and the unitbearings are bad (drivers damn near gone). overall fun times.... sorry to all for being 'That Guy' (kevin, hahaha)
i also want to send a BIG (like me) thankyou out to Brad (yellow rubi) Kevin, (specialK) Tom (Asia) Slim, Dwight and everyone else that helped to get my jeep back up on 4 wheels again, and out of a bad situation. it truly is appreciated. beers on me at the next meeting guys ;)
ps, if anyone has pics of me tire up, that'd be sweet. PM me and i can get you an email addy or whatnot for pics
-
Sounds like there is a good story in there somewhere pics would be good.

Only in the members area. Maybe he will be nice enough to post up a link......

It was good enough that I had to change my flip flops for real shoes to go and see. :)

It was a good day ;D Glad to hear you got out Johnny. That was some tuggin we had to do to get ya out. Your rig showed my Costco Champion who was boss. I knew I should have scooped Elsifers winch when I had a chance >:( Time to priorize my next upgrades.
Thanks to Tom for leading us today. It was a good run.
Our day didn't end at the store though. Just after Brad and I had finished airing up, buddy comes over and tells us he's got 2 people with the jeep stranded out there and if we can run back to pick them up. So Brad and I take him back to the jeep, but no people. Rig doesn't start and it's getting late so we boot back to the store where we find the other 2. Good news is that everyone got out safe. Rig is still back there, off the trail. We took them into Calgary.
After hearing and seeing what happened, I just want reiterate how important it is not to leave anyone with rig problems by themselves to get back to safety, even if the road is 'just over there'. I'm really proud to part of a group who would never do that to anyone. And we have said this before, NEVER wheel alone. And try to be prepared for what ever you
can think of. BobtheKnob, good luck getting your jeep out tomorrow. Let me know how it goes.
Brad, thanks for helping us out ;D

As always , when I'm around I help if I can.
I had a good time today, so did my son and grandson though my winch motor disagrees.... JOhnnyC
;) ;D :P

Had fun out there, definitely lots of excitement. Allthough this flat tire business is getting old fast! I think it's time to look for something with a thicker side wall.
-

Brad is your winch ok? i hope so!

I don't think so Johnny. The motors making funny noises :'( , I'll pull it on Thursday and open it up, Hopefully its not to bad and I can have it rebuilt.
Why is it when winches pack it in your usually winching someone else?? ;) :P
(you know when you go out wheeling there's always that guy..... ::) ;) )

That's not a rake, it's a factory option - improves fuel economy ;D
