Has anyone "flipped" axles on a trailer? I have a older (circa 1978) travel trailer. it is very low to the ground. it has 2 axles with trailer brakes on one. I have heard you don't really "flip" the axles but weld new perches on the top of the axle? is this a difficult job? time consuming?

i paid $400 to have it done at Calgary Spring.

I just flipped my axle and used the same spring perches on my scamper camper. Worked good until I caught a homeless guy sleeping in there, then it was time for the scamper camper to go!

You shouldn't "flip" the axle and use the same perches. The axle has an upward bend in it to compensate for how it will bend when the weight is on it(downward). If you flip it then you will have the arch the wrong way and the tops of the tires will start to lean in causing uneven wear.
The proper way is to install new perches on top of the axle and then bolt the axle under the springs.
