I will now be leading the open run on Saturday the 10th. :)
Most of the interest in this run seems to be coming from people with reasonable rigs, so here are the requirements:
Good quality MT's with plenty of tread
Front and rear recovery points
CB
Destination...I dunno...where do we want to go?
If the forecast for this week is accurate, this might be an interesting run. :o
-
I see that there's an open run on the calendar for next weekend (1oth) and nobody listed to lead it.
Of course, given that I missed the September meeting, it's entirely possible that I'm just out of the loop.
Has anything been planned? I'm definitely in for that run - hopefully even with a lift installed by then. :)
Try reading the minutes posted in the members section ;D
-
Thanks. :-[

It looks like we have a volunteer! where we going?
-
Ummm....sure?
I'm thinking that this run is the "Thanksgiving" run - the one that Bnine is leading...but maybe I'm still out of the loop. I seem to be confused a lot since I've gottne back from the middle east. ;D
-
I'm just harassing you... I have no clue but since it is the Thanksgiving weekend then it does seem like a pretty good guess.
-
there's plenty of turkeys around to lead this run... someone gobble up
-
where we going?
I spoke with Bnine and he mentioned Fisher East as a possibility... but maybe he was just trying to scare me... which is gonna be hard to do after "double up" from 2 Saturdays ago :o
Oh ya... count me in :)
-
Ditto :)
-
Is the Oct 10 still an open ride? If so, where/when is everyone staging? I'd like to join in for another ride in my quest toward membership. I've only made it out to one open club ride (Jeeping 101).
I'm running an essentially stock '99 Sahara (with the addition of front and rear recovery bumpers, winch and 31" Pro-Comp MT's) Will my rig measure up for the planned run?
-
We usually meet @ 9:00 am at the store. I think we are a bit up in the air as to who is leading. (Bnine is unbale to lead now). There should be a few members out there. We can see what rigs show and divide into groups at that point.
I'm sure w squared will have his fancy-schmancy lift buttoned up and be eager to lead ;D

Yes to the leading, maybe to the lift. Still waiting on my rear spring retainers ???
Let's hear some suggestions on where we'd like to go. I've got a couple of ideas, but I don't have my mind set on any one thing.
-
I would be interested in heading out for the day before it gets to Icy.
Todd

Quirk Ridge?
-
Quirk Ridge?
Maybe. One of the big factors for Quirk Ridge is the size of the group. There's not a lot of room at the top.
-
Meeting at the store at 9am? There is no time in post #1
-
Meeting at the store @ 9 am is the usual place and time. Let's go with that unless Todd posts something that states otherwise.
-
Okay, here's the recap:
People so far:
W Squared (the guy that will get us all lost :o )
Sprockett
Muffintop
Turbojohngt
Allanbr?
Whiteout?
SpecialK (The tailgunner that will ask W Squared why we're so lost ;D )
Meting time/place is McLean Creek store at 9AM. SpecialK will have waivers for all of the non-members to sign. (Thanks Kevin)
Vehicle requirements are:
Minimum tires: 31" MT's
Front and rear recovery points
CB
Personal requirements are:
Kids are very welcome - this is a family oriented club! :)
Warm clothing for everyone in your Jeep - including a hat and warm gloves
Plenty of water, lunch for everyone in your Jeep, and it's a good idea to bring something like an extra box of granola bars
If anyone is bringing a lunch that requires a stop for BBQing, please let me know at the store so that we can plan. I tend to bring sandwiches, but I don't want to rule out a hot lunch for anyone that's big on that.
That's a total of seven rigs so far - probably too much to do Quirk Ridge in one pack, but we could do it in two groups.
If the weather over the past 24 hours is any indicator, there will be snow on the ground, making some of the climbs pretty interesting.

Count me in.

Update:
I'm out :(
My uncle's truck threw a rod on his way through Nanton, and I'm going to give him a ride to Missoula tomorrow. My apologies for cancelling with such short notice, but it's unavoidable.
-
Crappy luck Todd, I was just gonna post that I can't make it since I have to slave at work over the weekend
-
Sorry to hear that Todd. Bad uncle. >:(
The run is still a go. I can take over leading duties if no one else wants to. I'll tail gun for anyone. Any takers? Anyone?
-
If it is not too late to join, count me in pls~~~
-
Soo... who tail guns if specialK leads?
I've had people PM me about tail gunning me. No worries there.
I don't mind leading. wsquared's rig requirements stand. See ya out there at the store for 9.
-
I'm planning on being there. Spent several hours last night putting in a cb. Will tune it tonight. Hope it goes well.
-
I will see you guy's at the store at 9:00am

Doesnt look like Ill have my cb in by tomorrow either....control arm joints are taking precedent tonight....
Im shooting to be at the store for 9ish!....dont let it stop you im sure we will figure frs out or something.
-
Pull the oil pan, yank out the bad rod and piston and drive it to Missoula :) Hmm if it holed the block, could be a problem with coolant and oil leaks tho... not to mention direct injection into the oil pan if it's injected.
Soo... who tail guns if specialK leads?
He probably thought of that - I don't know for sure that he holed a cylinder, but he's got 40 years of turning wrenches on diesels under his belt ;). I'd wager that if there was any way to limp it into Missoula, he'd have 'er figured out by now. :)
-
Wish I could make it for the run but heading out of town for family stuff tonight. Still haven't sorted out the CB thing, have to make time for it. Looking forward to Oct's meeting. Looks like a good group heading out. Churn some soil for me, be thinking about yous all while on the road in a "not jeep"
-
We will be okay with FRSs. If anyone has extras, please bring em out.

Looks like I'm back in... I have no idea what frs is though. All I have, at the moment, are a couple of Motorola "walkie talkie" type radios.
-
Sorry to add to the list of shame, but we are out as well.My daughter caught the Flu earlier this week and now the wife and I got frieght-trained with it :'(.
Have fun out there gang!
Cheers,John
P.S Happy Thanksgiving! ;D
-
I'm still planning to be there. I picked up a CB today and I can lend an extra GPS / FRS radio to someone tomorrow if need be.
-
Whoever is leading please print off the waivers from the site and have them filled out. Drive safe. have fun. Thanks
-
Just once it would be nice if I got to bed at a reasonable hour before going out. Oh well, I'll be there nursing a strong coffee as per usual. See you at 9.
-
Had a lot of fun today with the stationwagon, thanks guys!
-
The station wagon did well. ;D Glad to hear you had fun. Thanks for coming out!!!
-
Specialk... thanx for steppin in last minute, leading the run and makin it happen... was a great day :)
Big thanx to Stan for swapping batteries with me so I could make it home with a bum charging system.
-
Whoa... :-\ Good to hear you made it back okay. Thanks guys for helping out in a pinch!
-
How was the run today? Was there a lot of Snow?
I am sad I couldnt make it out. I look forward to the next one even if I have to wait until next spring.

Any time! Nice rig too!
-
Nice rig too!
Thanx... couple hundred hours, numerous scars, neglected wife, much abused wallet and a really bad welding burn later... the TJ is almost done 8)
Cant take all the credit though... Bnine did an awesome job setting up my diffs and by the time I had 5 beadlocks buttoned & aired up... Dom & Bair (the pit crew) had my flat fenders on :)
Just gotta find the time to do something about my front signal lights... they are pretty ghetto... and the worst part is its starting to grow on me :o
Oh ya... add another hour to the total... just replaced the alternator ;)
-
Thanks to everyone for helping me get up the steep rutted stuff on Saturday. I had a great day although I felt bad for holding everyone up on that one nasty climb (Nasty for my open Diff's and 31" rubber that is!!)
I 've modified my exhaust so It shouldn't be able wrap around my axle anymore (aka - removed the last 18" of pipe)

No worries - it gave me a chance to my lunch! ;)
Glad to hear the 'mods' went well.
