Title: Lock cylinder fell apart
Post by: SuicidalPenguin on December 13, 2005, 03:17:50 PM
In the driver side door lock, the little peice of metal isn't attached to anything.  The circle that has the little slot cut to fit the key through.  It's loose, so it floats around and I can't get my key in.  Also, there's a spring (i think) in there, and it's not attached either, so I don't know what happened, it's just like that.

Can this be fixed in the driveway or does it have to go to a specialist.  It's really annoying having to go through the passenger door everyday.  Thanks guys.

did you check the fuse? It should be under the hood somewhere.

;)

I'm having the same prolm but on an XJ... thinking of having a buddy weld it up, but will have to be careful with how thing the body is.

I've talked to a friend who owns a body shop... was told it'd probably be cheaper to buy new doors than to have a someone solidify it and make it look like anything buy a weak spot for a crook.

pain in the arse in any case.
