Title: AC Compressor pulley bearing
Post by: fug on October 28, 2009, 08:38:15 AM
Anyone ever replaced the AC pulley bearing?  The one on my 99 XJ is gone.  I've pulled the clutch off and determined it is indeed the pulley bearing as the compressor itself spins freely but the bearing is totally messed up.

I'm thinking I could press the bearing out and then put a new in.  Anyone know a good place to get this bearing?  I've heard they can be pricey.

Failing that... anyone know where I can get the whole pulley/clutch assembly (or even a whole compressor I can pull parts off of) for the AC on a 99 Cherokee?  I got one off a member here but it's a completely different setup.  My ccompressor has a keyed shaft and the clutch has exposed "rivets' like this:

Thanks... might have to check that out.  I can't find anyone who lists just the clutch/pulley assembly and I've pulled parts off 3 different XJ's (an 88, a 96 and another 99).. and none are the same.

If you're looking for just a bearing, try BC Bearing, or Kinecor.

Awesome!!! Thats exactly it... the numbers on the sticker match exactly!  I'll give you a shout tomorrow and try to setup a time to grab it from you.  You working in town these days?
