Title: magnaflow muffler
Post by: Tagg on November 02, 2009, 08:29:04 PM
Has anyone had experience with magnaflow 6" dia muffler.  I'm looking at inserting one between the evap cannister and the lower control arm on the drivers side and straight out the back on that side.  That would leave room to enlarge the well at the back and put dual batteries there.  Is the muffler noisier that stock by a lot?  What is the difference between 6' diameter and smaller diameter?  Has anyone done this?  All input appreciated.  This is my winter project.

It should be alot louder, most magnaflow mufflers are straight through design. If you're putting another battery by your wheel well make sure its a gell cell(opti) so you don't gas your interior. Gell cells can also be mounted in any way (upside down, or on their side) without any issues.

You know, there are easier ways to put dual batteries in a JK  ;)

Then again, if you're doing this mod because you can then have fun!  :)

Actually I was thinking of the dual batteries in the rear would help the balance but when I weighed the jeep I found that the front axle and rear are within 20kg. so my tools will solve that. So..... I'm all ears to know the easiest way to put dual batteries in a JK.

$220 US for the bracket

$330 US if you want all the 2 gauge wiring and a big solenoid for complete bolt-on installation.

Not cheap, but less expensive than doing a cat-back.
