So here is my dilemma, we just bought a 1999 GC Limited and one of the remotes (black) works fine, the grey one though wasnt used once since purchase (original owners).
I swapped the batteries thinking they are dead...after 10 years..its a good chance. Still nothing. So i take it all apart and look for anything out of the ordinary (compared to working black remote).

Then I do some diggin on wjjeeps.com and find I have to get a stealership to re-program.....great ::) Ive given up calling the dealers in town as I cannot believe the BS. $60 to simply flash the remote (1-5 minutes work) at one place, $160 at another to "Diagnose and then repair". Awesome.
MY ASK is THIS: Does anyone have a good contact at a dealership or someone with the DRBIII scantool that can help me out so that I am not paying a ridiculous amount of money for a remote that only costs $30. Thanks in Advance and sorry for the little rant

Can try this:
If the receiver fails to respond to the transmitter after battery removal or replacement, depress and release the RKE transmitter Unlock button repeatedly while listening carefully for the power door locks in the vehicle to cycle. After between five and eight presses of the Unlock button, the power door locks should cycle, indicating that re-synchronization has occurred.

And its working again...thanks a bunch. glad I didnt have to pay $160 to have a dealership do nothing. Cheers!
