Post by: madcarson on November 18, 2009, 05:40:11 PM
The wifes jeep has been acting up lately,3 times this week it will just quit out of the blue when you go to stop ? It starts right up again so not sure what's up,I know batt.is weak but if  it's running then alt.should keep eng.alive ? :-\

CPS(crankshaft position sensor), tells the computer when to fire the coil. When it goes, no spark.

If the battery still starts the jeep after it died then its unlikely that the engine stalled due to low electrical power. However a battery with an internal short can cause some REALLY weird electrical issues.

just after I bought mine xj, it would stall out after a few minutes of idle, it was kinda pulsating and had a very rough idle.
it would almost die, then bump the idle up a bit and repeat this a few times and then finally die on me.
I think I had a bad connection on one of the injectors because I wiggled them around a bit, and it has been fine since.
although the previous owner had just replaced one of the injector O-rings, so that could be it too.
