Title: Mechanic
Post by: Wingnut on November 30, 2009, 04:26:48 PM
I have a 95 YJ with a 2.5L engine that I recently bought. I was sitting for almost a year but runs good. Ever since I bought it, there has been a squeak coming from the front of the motor which at first I thought was a belt squeak. Then it started getting worse. I sprayed all the pulleys with silicone lube which would quiet it down for a few minutes but it kept coming back. I tried oil and it was the same. It is worse when it warms up. This morning, it was squeaking so bed, I chose not to even drive it. Does anyone know a good, reliable Jeep mechanic that could look int this for me. It sounds like a pulley might be seizing but I am not good at wrenching on vehicles. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't really looked at the engine much yet, or not at least from the top, but I would imagine that it has a tentioner,
chances are that is the problem, happened in the car, more so when cold.
for me it went away at higher engine speed.

hope that might help. :)

Dave, should have asked me, I think I have a spare power steering pump kicking around.
