Title: Question for electricians
Post by: 4PLAYZJ on November 30, 2009, 06:32:03 PM
Running a sub service to my new garage.  Would like to know what size of conductors to run to the sub panel.  The run is 50' long and will be a 100 amp sub service from a 200 amp panel.

I would use a #2 AL   URD  which is a underground wire,  and drop a ground plate in the ground with a #6 Strand cooper wire for the ground.

He could but in doing so he would violate code, its a sub service you can only ground the main service, a sub service must be "bonded" to the main service

I talked to him already so hes good to go
