Title: codeson a 95 xj
Post by: Pookapotamus on December 01, 2009, 09:59:34 AM
so the wifes xj has been showing the check engine light since we got it and i have never read the codes to find out why it is showing the engine light. kinda thought this might be a good idea and get her xj fixed.

so um... how do i read her codes? is it the same as my 92? turn the key three times and read the flashes?

Yup, I assume you already have a manual for it. The codes will be in there.

ya you can do the key 3 times and read the flashes thing... my engine light has been coming on and off due to a bad O2 sensor

so i finaly got around to checking the codes i came up with 12, 25, 55. now i know 55 = end of codes so its out. and 12 = battery disconnected in the last 50 starts so its out too. and the internet said that 25 was Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor driver circuit shorted or target idle not reached, vacuum leak found.

??? so what does that mean? the jeep has an intermittant problem where it dies while she is driving would this have something to do with that?

Fug i have tried playing with all the wires under the column like you told me to do but could not find the one you were talking about.

There was a thin one ... second or third from one end... think it was purple.  If I touched it .. it would die
