This is my first post here on this site. I just bought a used 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade. I had a small problem with it yesterday morning. My gas pedal was sticking a little bit when I was on my way to work. The transmission(automatic) was also a little bit hard to get into gear. It would just rev a bit as if it were in neutral before getting into gear. Now it shifts fine but my check engine light came on. Anyone know what the problem is? Torque converter perhaps? Any help is appreciated.

Yup. That's the first thing I looked at. Fluid level is correct, and a healthy pink hue. I was going to borrow a scanner/reader this morning but the check engine light is not on anymore. Shifts fine. I'm thinking this was an intermittent problem that was due to the cold weather. I hope no more issues come up when the weather gets colder. Thanks to the quick replies everybody! That was swell .

Pink? Should be red unless it uses some weird fluid. Is it frothy at all? Should be red like cough syrup. Milkshake pink or pepto-bismal is bad.

Sorry, I meant red( first auto vehicle I've owned) It looks pink, and doesn't smell burnt or anything. There is no frothiness to speak of from getting mixed with water or other contaminents. I'll keep an eye on this problem and cross my fingers that nothing else happens. The vehicle passed an inspection last week though. I looked for re-calls and other problems associated with my trans online. Some people claim that they had the same problem, and took it to a dealership to have it "flashed"
