I was wondering how some people on this site came up with their user name/handle? I was a meat cutter so I got my user name that way. So how did you guys/gals come up with yours?
-
First names Justin last name starts with a K....simple enough ;)
-
Its my name,....
-
I could be described as ..................
Sucker for gadgets.
Toolaholic.
Intrigued by the technical side of most things , how they work , who invented it , how it's made.
Even as a small boy took things apart.
Rarely do I leave any of my vehicles stock , even a chainsaw might get "tweaked". (too much time spent around a dynmometer )
I envision things , ( parts , tools etc ) then create them , usually in metal
-
Toolaholic.
Really? ;D
mine =

-
yea right, your is because your bunghole sings a song with the breath of a swamp
-
Last name and what everybody close to me calls me.
Dingman
-
mine comes from the years 1984/5
i was a headbanger in school and dressed like motley crue / judas priest etc.
wore concert shirts and everyone called me Alister Fiend (written on shirt) from Motley Crue t-shirts and it stuck.
i shortened it to fiend because that's all that is left of me. when i like something, i can't get enough. i am a fiend.
-
my plate I got for the jeep started with ZMB, that and I love zombie movies.
-
Its been my handle for a long time...be it forums or games, usually spelled with a zero not an "O".
Its original and no one else uses it, and if you see it else where is prob just me! ;)
Pronounced "Oss-Tea-Go" :D
-
parabs is for my name, p is my first inital, and arabs is the first letters of my last name.
-
All the crap that I have pulled over the years.... I should be dead. But alas, I am not. Multiple scars, and a broken ankle are all that has happened to me. And I drive an XJ... damn hard to kill those things.
-
Jeep color and favorite driving condition
-
Fraser i thought you got it cause you're always 'white knuckled' when you drive/wheel ;)
JohnnyC = lack of ingenuity in a name. i tried for Johnny Love but the girls just laughed and that became LJ.
besides it sounds better to say 'what is johnnyC doing? what an idiot' or 'hey, Johnnyc is broken again'
just sounds better ;)
-
I use to install cable, and I am short. Given to me by a co-worker and it stuck.
Now it's my company name.
-
I'm kinda like that crazy guy from the movie.
"I haven't slept in over a year"
-
What can I say I was freakishly addicted to sugar and spelling words that started with F with PH instead cool in the 90's.
my plate I got for the jeep started with ZMB, that and I love zombie movies.
My first plate started with KNT... while it may have matched my driving style, it did not make a very appropriate handle.
-
I got mine from always wearing my helmet out in public... just in case I fall over :o
-
you're so special kev!
-
I started a company years and years ago as a sub to the family farm doing repairs. when I went to register it Way Tech was taken so we dropped the h Waytec. Now most pepole that know me just take it because I can not spell.
-
Now most pepole that know me just take it because I can not spell.
Ain't that the truth.... but, you, Ryan, and the "other Aaron" have got to be the most entertaining reads on the forum.
-
I got mine from always wearing my helmet out in public... just in case I fall over :o
So it has nothing to do with that molecular structure in your avatar?

-
ive come to know jeeps as being heeps of junk. but, as all of us do, i love 'em to death and will always love them that way.
truer words have never been spoken buddy.
specially those ones with square headlights ;)
-
Hey hey hey i would never call my Jeep a Heep of Junk
That is to much of a complement ;D
-
Fred was the name of a previous 4wd and It would just scream when you put the hammer down. Not like my current cherokee where the rev limiter kicks in t 5300 rpm :'(
-
My first vehicle was an AMC Rebel, My first Jeep was an AMC Jeep CJ and I've had an AMC of some sort in my stable for over 25 years. My old school buddies used to call me AMC all the time and the name just stuck. Every time I drive my antiques I see the word AMC somewhere. I got bit by the bug hard. :o
-
i was opening my own shop and named it Bonavista Family Chiropractic.
But i used the skeleton guy as my logo.
Than one day i thought that i was 'spinalguy' and the logo was just ummm, a logo :D
So, i became spinalguy and so did my shop.
i originally started posting as another name but that name did not fare so well. It must have been the guy typing the replies and not the name ;) Anyways, it got to the point where i would post a reply (never with smiles) and people took my comments not as i intended.
It got so bad that for 1 year i would send my replies to a buddy that would rewrite them to soften the reactions.
i paid attention to his changes and when i finally felt comfortable i started posting again.
From that point on, any forum i registered on i went with Spinalguy. 8)
i still can be misinterpreted as i am 'direct' , but i shall remain Spinalguy 8)

I have 9 fingers. BillyNine (my nickname since I lost the finger when I was 18) was taken on the american boards I signed up on originally. So I opted for bnine which I also carried through to any boards I use.
-
Got mine when I was a framer. Was my 2nd day on the job, we were really busy and skipped coffee. It got around lunch and seemed like we were going to skip that too. I was hungry so when I was grabbing some nails I nabbed an apple and put it in my tool belt. I climbed back up on the roof and started eating it as I was waiting to get some more trusses. Lead hand yelled, "Hey! what do you think you're doing?" I said, "having a snack", there was some underbreath cursing from his end followed by "It's NOT snack-time yet!" (I still finished the apple...)
Stuck ever since. By day 3 nobody in any of the four crews, including the boss ever called me Tyler again. Snack Time became my full name. Usually just Snack.
I was surprised my boss never accidentally wrote it on any of my pay cheques. A few of the lead hands even forgot my actual name after about a year.
Just picked an interesting way to spell it for my handle that nobody else seemed to be using.
-
All the good ones like "pooh for brains" and "stupid F-in jerk" were taken...
Been browsing through this post and enjoying it. Nice to know you all alittle better.
Now what the heck is a pookapotamus?
How'd the jeep go Dana?

No idea who or what that is. ???
-
Umm everywhere I have been on the forums it "was" da_bear......then came a run early last year when between waiting for terminally tardy friend to get ready and 11th hour repairs all we could eat was A&W and Mac Donald's for basically two days....well it's just like beans....and beans are the magical fruit........Stinky Bear was born!!!
Besides if I had not chosen the name the threats of a new name from a forum moderator and friend on the run were much... much worse!!!LOL
-
My first choice was "swab cup"... but it was taken... so I ended up with muffintop. Not sure why, other than the obvious fact, that the best part of any muffin... is the top :P
-
Well, if you rip off one section of a swab cup, it looks a little like a muffin top :)
-
Went by yellar bellied on most boards due to color choice.
Now I go by Hi Lo Silver (due to color choice) and due to Hi Lo range mixed with color choice. Roof is also silver. Means more for those that remember The Lone Ranger and his trusty horse, Silver.

Get a Comanche and name it Tonto. ;)
-
I love to wheel for fun.
-
Was nicknamed SwampRat in 1971 by a few co-workers because we use to chase drilling rigs around the country to repair the drivers and I usually got through the mud and swamp without getting stuck and the guys would laugh and say I got through just like a muskrat so they called me the SwampRat, the name stuck and when I meet with the guys, they still call me that, they probably forgot my real name already.
-
RedDog derived from the name of a motorcycle I once owned. A friend had bought a new Triumph Daytona 1200 that was screaming yellow and I recall him say, "there's a new dog in town... yellow dog". It naturally followed that my Kawasaki 1100 then be RedDog.
After being out of that game for 3 years following 28 years of riding, I just bought a Buell XB12XT - BlackDog of course.

I had to come up with a handle for the game Motor City Online a long time ago (awsome game). At the time I had an 89 mustang 5.0. Wheelhop just sprang into my head as it was an issue with my car.
-
i will not change your login name. i will change your 'displayed' name if you ask nicely.
-
Brooneg is the name I use on all my online games. It is unique and I know I will be the only one who uses it.

There has been a lot of new folk on here and I'm still curious as to how they came up with their username or handle. I'm bumpin this !
-
An old bluegrass song about a rogue bear - Ole Slewfoot. I just liked the song and Slewfoot is a good handle - I've been using it for gaming for years.
-
mine is kinda lame, nothing special raf is short for rafal and the number is my birth day. i suck at choosing a handle.
-
I used to be av9inch because I had an avalanche with 9" lift, but I sold that years and years ago.
People started calling me av-what you tell your gf is 9"s, so I changed it to AV.NINE since everyone calls me AV anyways.
But soon it will have meaning again because I'll 'av-2-nines (front and rear) ;D

first car was a turbo'd plymouth laser hence turbolaser i couldnt think of a good jeep handle and then i started modding my jeep and i have come up with yj7 for the mix of my yj and the cj7 i am kind of turning it into , so if anyone can change my name that would be wicked
-
My middle name lol. kinda boring I spose.
-
First namse Luke. I used to drive my old dodge cargo van like it was the general lee. Freinds started callin me LukeDuke and it just stuck.
-
Mine is my gamer tag. Been using it for about 12 years. If you played Quake 2/3 on the Calgary servers back in the day, I probably played against you.
I am not very creative, so when I was trying to come up with a tag for myself I was just looking at things around the room. It was at my buddies house and he had a UMAX Astra flatbed scanner...I took the Astra and just started adding a letter on the end until I found something I liked. This has also morphed into Ast, Asty or A$$ Tracks...
-
One of the first forums I was joining many moons ago.....It was a late night after many popped tops....I mistakenly entered my first name under "user name" thought I hit "tab" to go to "password" entered 2171 so after arguing with the computer...finally got logged on as "Duane2171" and have used that ever since so I don't forget my damn user name. Had to come up with a new password though....... :'(

Lake Louise (LL) is where I have lived for 20 years and YJ is my jeep - on a couple old cj and flattie sites I am LLCJ3A (oddly LLYJ was already taken)
Also pipestoneflyguy on flyfishing forums

When I had my first XJ the J on the front fell off. We all started calling it EEP. Current XJ is also missing the J, figured I would use EEP for a user name.
-
Bringing back a necro. At least it's a good one. Buki is short for Fubuki. My dog and probably the most loyal friend a guy could have. If you've met him he's a very obedient loving animal, the exact opposite of me;)

in Moab, Utah. Hence: MOABICON

My original username on the forum was Raspberry. Simon (aka TL-Iguana) was the one who gave me that nickname... I showed up to work one morning in a 'gun-metal pink' dress shirt. He called me out on it. I laughed and replied "Its not pink, its raspberry!", and the name stuck.
As for my Jeeps, well the first one was nicknamed 'Big Ben' by a buddy Jordan. I think the English accent had something to do with it.
Second one I originally called Limey, but on its first run down in Mclean, it earned the nickname of 'Lost Limey', as I lost it on a trail somewhere...
There was a group of us who went night wheeling, 5 rigs including mine, I brought up the rear. We had stopped in an open area passing another buddy we'd met earlier in the day, broke out a beer and had a little dance party. I realised later that the rest of my group had left, and I had to catch up... I could just barely see their tail lights farther down the trail they'd taken, so I was gunning it to catch up.
At one point the tail lights disappeared completely... and then re-appeared up ahead a few minutes later, so I kept going straight.
Well, it turns out they had taken a bypass to avoid a huge skeg pit... given that it was so dark, I didn't see it coming, and ploughed straight in.
No-one in the group turned back. My swamper and I had to abandon the Jeep where it was, hike it the rest of the trail where we got to the gravel road, and just by CHANCE there was someone driving down the gravel road when we got to it. We flagged them down, asked for a ride back to camp, interrupted everyone else's dinner preparations when we got there, and the search party got rolling.
Unfortunately, I hadn't thought to leave any marker by the trail we left when we'd reached the gravel road... every single trail looked the same. Suffice it to say we called off the search until the morning, when the sun was up and it would be much easier to back-trace our steps from the gravel road...
Still couldn't find it.
So we decided to roll out as a group again, taking the same trails as we had the night before, from start to finish. Figured we'd eventually find a Jeep on the trail somewhere....
And we did. 4pm the next day.
Damn thing spent the whole night and most of the next day, like this, and still fired up and ready to go first try!
< Edited to remove a mud hole pic. We have a no mud pics in the open portion of the site policy. You can see the policy here (http://forum.calgaryjeep.com/index.php?topic=9291.0)>
