On previous Honda's I've owned it was possible to disable the a/c from coming on when the vent was turned to the front window setting. Is such a thing possible with a 2000 XJ? Maybe wishful thinking... :o

Why do you want to do it? Having the AC running helps dry out the air for better defrost.
You can either pull the fuse, the relay or disconnect the wire going to the AC pump.

easiest is to pull the wire off the pump... but I am with cLay.... why would you want to? Having it on dries out the air, so your windows clear up sooner... and stay clear when the snow from your hood whips up and hits the windshield.

You could cut one of the wires on the compressor clutch plug and splice on longer wire to a toggle switch on dash. That would let you control A/C with the flick of a switch. Most newer cars
turn off A/C at Wide Open Throttle any ways
