Title: shifter stuck?

98 jeep gc auto,parked it and went to leave and won't come out of park ? I see a small spring disconnected but don't see how any of it moves to try and fake it into gear so I can get it into the shop ? HELP

Have you tried turning or playing with the steering wheel. I don't have any experience with Jeeps with automatics, but I know my dads Expedition wont shift out of park sometimes and turning the steering wheel solves that problem.

There is an electrical switch on the brake pedal. It does two things, turns brake light on when you push  on the pedal and engages the selonid to unlock the gear selector.

On my '93 GC it melted out and left me and family stuck at the mall till I was able to Mcgyver it with my Leatherman tool.
