So after last night I'm thinking chains would be a "nice-to-have" item, but I have clearance issues so I think I've got 3 options.
1. forget about chains
2. Get a set of SCC Super Z8's that would fit without spacers
3. Get a set of wheel spacers and some V-bars. But do I just get a pair of spacers for the back?
I think the Z8's might be the best bet and cheapest. ???

get real chains....
#3 all the way. ..you will be wider and more stable also.
-
dumb question but I've noticed spacers come in pairs, can you space the back just for chains and leave the front? Reason being I'd probably take them off in the summer, only plan on using them for the chains. The front I'm thinking I'd like to leave the way it is to save wear and tear on front hubs.

you can dwight. i do it on my YJ to even out the front/rear due to the axle swap. (i run them on the front though)
BUT your rear end won't track nearly as well because its wider; you'll be like my YJ was, and your rear will catch on stuff, and push you into a crab walk. you sure they don't fit stock?

I've only got a bit better than a half inch between the tires and the spring cups.

i ran a set of chains on my 33 and the chain rubed the coil bucket and chewed it up pretty good if i put the chains on again i'm going to space the front and rear, because low and wide looks sick on the tjs

spacer both front and rear 1.5 inchs .. my brother runs 33/12.5R15 all year with the spacers hes had the jeep 2 years now nad he has not changed out the hubs there still in great shape
so you shouldnt worry about that .
and i personaly think you would want a bit wider foot print for stability

Geez Dwight! You just can't wait to spend that future tax return money can you?
Run two spacers in the rear for the odd times you'll need to rock chains. Take the spacers off when you don't need them. Running them front and rear will make your tires stick out further than they are now and make your wife's TJ really dirty.
-
+1 on the dirty bit. Adding spacers has made the side of my my JK very dirty.
-
We drive Jeeps! We like it dirty!
x2 on the spacers.
-
Ugh...yeah..but it's his WIFE'S Jeep. He has to keep it nice and clean or he'll get in big trouble. You want to see Dwight on future trail runs don't you? It's hard enough to get him to come as is. Don't make her mad Dwight! He doesn't need spacers or chains anyways. He did quite well without them last night.

aYup, copius amounts of wheel speed. Good thing I have those bolt on HP boosters.
Her eyes rolled when I mentioned rock sliders. I think SUC on the side is out of the question though.
I wonder how I can make the pink slip out to be in my name so she can't sell it on me :-[
edit** I forgot she knows how to sign my name.. cr@p
