just wondering how hard, if possible, it would be to swap out a clunky-style steering wheel column from a 99 tj with something less ugly, say from an older cj, or even yj? im currently installing a custom dash, and figured i might as well see if i can dump the whole thing! any insight, comments would be greatly appreciated!

im pretty sure as soon as you remove the air bags you can not Re-sell the vehicle dont quote me on that just what ive heard
-
not selling, rebuilding for pure offroad vehicle.. not street legal anyway since i cut off the front fenders! love that air grinder!
-
haha very nice, well im sure Grant makes an addapter to put one of there steering wheels into it? maybe worth looking into
-
Grant? sry im not familiar with them. they have a website?
when i took the old one out, it has a spline shaft coming out the firewall... was wondering if another jeep steering wheel would maybe fit that spline, or if i have to take it all out, right to the steering pump to replace.. but if u could give me a little more infor on Grant, that'd be a good place to start!
thanks

lol found it.. type in grant and jeep, and it takes u right to the site!

should have to pull the horn off and the insides. there will be a spline like you said. you can buy a steering wheel puller for 30 bucks. then push your old one back on.

thanks for the info! hey, is it possible to swap out the entire shaft, or just the wheel? gonna have to research that...
