Title: fill er' up!
Post by: M T on February 05, 2010, 01:58:45 AM
I was wondering what you guys with STOCK TJ's and XJ's are getting for fuel economy in L/100km???

I want some honest answers here...  I am trying to decide between the XJ and TJ, 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder?  I know what my driving habits are and what my needs will be with the Jeep, but am curious to know how much fuel you're using in L/100km?

Thanks to all that respond!

16 -17 L/1ookm is about my average for a 6 cyl 3.8 l engine in a JK.  Thats strictly trail riding plus highway getting to and from Mclean Creek.  The weekend we did the fencing pushed the consumption up (22L/100km).

In my YJ with the 4 angry squirrels and when it was stockish I could get about 16 L/100km.  Now with a 4L and 33s I get about 17-18.

I don't think the difference in mileage would be worth the pain in the butt driving a smaller engine when you have the choice now to get the bigger one.  Keep in mind the 4 banger will have to work harder thus use more fuel to move you around.

When mine was stock it was around 19-21mpg, which I think is about 13-15l/100km.  Now that it's pushing bigger tires and heavier it's probably closer to 18l/100km.

95 ZJ 5.2L V8 with 31s.   highway @ 100km/h is 11L at 120km/h  and13L/100km.   hehe wranglers suck.

in the YJ with 4L and 35s/4:56 gears.......... probably 18L/ or so. its bad.  not even 300km/tank

I would strongly reccomend not getting a four banger TJ. Even stock it's slow, and has to have it's rpms used rather than it's tourqe to accelerate. Throw on 31's and 5th gear becomes useless. Throw on 33's and you can't even drive down an easy trail without using low range. Ability to power through mud is much less. My Tj four banger didn't last that long either...
