Ok so I'm at my wit's end with this damn thing. Since I've owned this TJ, roughly 20,000 kms, it's been eating Throttle Position Sensors. I put the 4th one in this morning. It'll be fine with a new one for a couple weeks, although the last one only lasted 3 days!!!! Then it'll start jumping around and idling rough and the Engine Light will come on.
I change the sensor, reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and all is well until next time. This has happened twice when I was returning from wheeling all day. It's possible mud/water got into some of the wiring I suppose, but this problem NEVER happens while I'm out wheeling, only on the drive home.
Anyone had this happen, or have some suggestions?

are you using oem sensors or aftermarket? check the wiring into the plug, look for any corrosion or damage, there could be a bad connection or a pin hole in the wiring. or a damage to the seal going into the sensor causing debris to enter the sensor. it seems a little extreme that you replace this many sensors in so little of mileage. its an issue but not that much of an issue.try a known good sensor and compare maybe.

well after the 4 i would take it tooo the dealer. only because once they touch it its there problem until its fixed. but i would also make sure the sensor is adjusted right and check conections and wiring. remeber dielectric greese is a jeepers bestfriend

That's a nice way to look at it.
Of course you forgot to mention that the dollar clock it ticking while its "their" problem and the Jeep owner is paying for every tick of the clock.
That being said, I would check and ensure all the engine to chassis to battery ground connections are all in good condition.

There's no way in hell it's going to a dealership. I have used 3 aftermarket (Borg Warner brand) and one used OEM Mopar one. The used OEM one lasted the 3 days. Luckily the BW sensors had warranty so I only had to pay for one of them.
Are these adjustable??? Also that rubber grommet/seal....only the latest one I installed even had it. Sounds like it is required to keep crap outta there?
