I only have 1 key for my 2004 TJ.  It is a transponder key.  I need another key (from dealership?) in order to make any additional keys.  I would like a key that says JEEP, but really don't want to pay nearly 150.00 from the dealership!!!  Anybody have any suggestions?

Ebay ... but with only 1 key you're still going to need a dealership to program the new key unfortunately

Any Garage with a skanner the is current with all the subsriptions like mac or snapon should be able to do it for you.

When I bought my truck the dealer only had one key for it. I made them cut and program a 2nd one as part of the deal. The sales guy was sure cheesed when he learned later how much it cost!

Right after I bought it I ordered a 3rd key off ebay and got a local shop to cut it. They were hesitant at first but I convinced them I wouldn't hold them responsible if it didn't work. Then since I already had 2 programmed keys I was able to program a third myself.

After you get a 2nd key made I'd buy a 3rd one off ebay and do what I did.

Also you can just get a regular key cut that will open the doors, it just won't start the vehicle. Handy if you lock the chipped key in the vehicle and just need to get in.
