Title: 4.0 to 4.0HO
Post by: Waytec on March 07, 2010, 08:45:46 PM
I am hoping that I did not put the cart before the horse.
I picked up a 4.0 HO out of a 94 XJ today to transplant into a 90 MJ. Can anyone point me to a thread or topic of someone that has already done a swap. I am hoping have the solutions to all the issues before I start pulling bolts out.
Thank You

CC man....there's gotta be a thread on there somewhere.  Pete is working on the search function, so if you post this on there, someone will point it out for you.

I already have posted on CC.
I did read some where that is is a plug and play, everything will hook up strait and work if I stayed before 1997.
I am now just doubting that because nothing is ever that easy for me.

I have done the swap in my 89 XJ, its actually very easy now keep in mind I used my Renix intake and opened it up match the HO head as well as gaskett match ,.. other than that swap ove the sensors and its a R&R

PM me to call if you have questions,..

BTW Comp Cams Extreme 4x4 cam is worth every penny! 8)

I have the complete harness and computer as well. so do I have to use the old computer, and will it plug right into the old cab harness and run the gages as well.

The Harness not sure, I used the factory Renix Intake and ECM with the HO Motor. Now I did that as I have a AW4 tranny and didn't want to open that can o worms. Now is the harness you have a under hood ECM? Or does it locate in the MJ spot?

Now you MJ is a AMC Jeep, and your 94 Motor is a Mopar,.. I am unsure on the clusters and chassis wiring, if I took a peek at it I am sure I could finger in out in a short period.

Where are you in the City?

I am in Red Deer
I am starting to think that just swapping the sensors and going with he old computer will be the best option.
I am reading that the intake sensors will fit on the HO intake I just have to lengthen one set of weirs.
