Title: drain plugs
Post by: Spinalguy on March 08, 2010, 08:45:53 AM
i have been stripping the cj5 to get it ready for line-x.
i could use 2 new floor plugs. any ideas to find in calgary?

Also i have about 6 holes in the tub from where the 2 tuffy boxes were mounted. i would like to 'fix' that before the line x goes on.
carriage boltsÉ how else can i `patch`it.

BTW, the tub has zero rust. It is mint. yee haw!

hey tom,

my old xj is stripped and sitting in the back of my garage, you are welcome to come and steal the drain plugs out of it (if they will fit).

they are not rubber!  >:( they are just a piece of round metal that fits into a round hole with a gasket and tend to rust out easily! acctually the ones i was talking about for tom was the rubber ones on the door pillars that are about 1"

Ok, i have been thinking which may be dangerous on a tech level.
As a jeep has the rubber plugs for big holes (drainage) can i not buy some rubber plugs for the bolt holes?

What are they called? not grommets as they have a hole in them but like that only no hole.
i am thinking Greggs or PA would have something like that?
Any ideas?

i need to correct myself there tom, i thought your jeep was older, those plugs i showed were used untill '71, i went back and seen yours is a '77, it will use plastic plugs then. the under seat tank threw me off.

The dealership has got to stock them for either jk's or tj's. Why not call them? Or just too $$$$?

Hey Rob, they are plastic. They have no holes but seem rather cheap.
i guess i could see if the TJ/JK floor ones fit.
