Title: Help on picking a MJ lift Kit
Post by: Layback209 on March 10, 2010, 10:32:12 AM
So I've been researching lift kits i would like to purchase for my 91 4.0L MJ, dana 30-35, short box, running Cooper STT 31"s on TJ rims. And i have narrowed it down to 3 bolt and go kits (maybe looking for opinions).  My truck is my DD for the time being so after the lift it needs to be comfortable and very streetable + up offroad capabilities.   I would like to lift in the 3.5" - 5.5" to give better bumper clearance for  jeeping through dips, and getting my front skid plate a bit higher of the ground so it doesn't turn into a plow when hitting the deeper stick clay mud.  I would also like to drop a dana 44 in and regear (after lifting when some more $$ acume).  Here are the lifts i'm considering.

5" Front and Rear (standard lift with CAD)

Add on options:
Long Shocks
T-Case Drop
Pitman Drop
quick disks
Adgustable LCD's

RE 5.5

Anyone running this bad boy? I was also thinking of getting the RE3.5" super flex kit and comboing it with some custom rear leaf spring to match lift?

4.5" Motion Offroad Lift Kit

Any Recommendations, opinions, experience with these lifts would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
D

I too was in the same boat you are in 1.5 years ago. I ended up going SOA rear, 4.5 RE coils with 2" spacers in front, RE superFlex adjustable UCA's and LCA's, and 32 x 11.5 STT's. I went way over my budget, but it was worth every penny. Here is a pic of the truck:

Wow that MJ is awsome and its super clean!! Prefect lift height. Did you have any issues with the rear slip yoke after you went SOA?  Those STTs are a great tire too, to bad you can't get them any more.

Thanks Waytech I'll give bear a call...

I didn't have any issues. I used a Ford Explorer 8.8 which moved the pinion yoke +/- 1" forward. I didn't install a t-case drop kit either which lots of guys do. As for the STT's, they are still listed on their website. I will have to check with a buddy that is a Cooper dealer to confirm tho. I had 2 different sets and was extremely happy with them.
