Title: CJA plumbers or anybody with a drain snake?
Post by: JENSSEN on March 11, 2010, 11:46:23 PM
I have a clogged clothes washer floor drain, everything drains AOK except the section of pipe that relieves the washing machine.

Help?

Hmm, I have a similar problem with my bathroom sink.  I never considered renting the tool, thanks for the good advice.

You can probably buy a snake for $25.00 or so then you have one in your arsenal.

As the drain line in Question was a 4" pipe with no access hole to snake it, I rented a 2" Power snake 25' ($45.00/4Hr) from Home depot. I made a larger cutter for it and fit it through the pee trap to start working ion the drain. After 4 runs the blockage was removed and I can do laundry again. I did look into purchase but only the small drain snakes (toilets, sinks) we feasible cost wise of buy VS Rent. I also hit it with Acid 2-3 times after to make sure it won't plug up any time soon.

Jenssen 1 VS Drain 0

Check your sink pee trap,.. the U portion of the pipe below the drain in the sink, you may have an access plug in the bottom that allows you to easily clean the areas that clog.

Good advice, unfortunately I just replaced that section along with the rest of the sink hardware, and it didn't solve my problem.  I'm thinking the blockage is a little further down the line.

Mmm, delicious H2SO4.  Sounds good, I'll give that a try, I've got some spare time this evening.
