Title: Transfer Case
Post by: prelude48 on March 17, 2010, 09:34:41 PM
Hey Guys,

I have a 242j transfer case that is making a lot of noise at highway speeds, not sure if its bearings or chain,  Is it worth pulling apart
and replacing the chain and bearings or just buy a used one from a guy in Airdrie for 350? can someone recommend a good place to
buy replacement parts, or can i just call Auto value or part source etc.

Thanks

Oh wow I rebuilt my 242 because my 249 ate poopie. I wouldn't buy used for 350 you can rebuild your 242 I have a 242 manual you're welcome to have and if you need help rebuilding it send me a message I'm more then willing to get my hands dirty. Also I have a list of the bearing and seal numbers kicking around.  Ps pnp charges 150 for a used case so 350 is pretty up there in price
