I am putting in new springs in the rear of the jeep and need new U bolts, anyone know the specs of the u bolts???
thread size, diameter of axel, how far apart the bolts need to be(end of the U) and how long the stock ones started out at???
I can look under the jeep, I just don't have the caliper to measure the axel and stuff like that handy.
thanks
steve
Oh, it is a 97 cherokee auto, 4.0 L if that helps

they should be 1/2" bolt and I think a 3" diameter. Standens or any other suspension shop should be able to tell you want you need
-
just take one off go to standens tell them you want one x-amount longer than this one and they will bend them on the spot to your spec.
on sat they are only open till 12:00pm IIR

I went there and they said they could not give me any specs and to find out the exact specs for them
could be a liability thing
I think I will just take one off and head there in the car and have a few made up
just hope they are not too expensive

I have had them make several sets from a simple drawing. Just draw a picture and go under and measure as many dimensions as possible. They're pretty helpful and friendly over at standen's eh? ::)

I don't know about everyone of them, the one "helping" me was grumpy and not very nice at all.
but some of the other guys looked like they were nice and helpful.
I think the remove and take in and ask for a longer one is what I end up doing.
with luck thursday night or friday morning will be removing the bolt and head over friday.
any chance you still have the shims Boone?
once I figure out what I have, I think I will know what I am going to need to get the rear axle lined up properly.

Does it have red tape on the Front bumper? That XJ looks very familiar.
Measure your parts to make sure, simple measuring tape should confirm the following.
According to a book...8.25 Ubolts should be;
Thread size x width x length Dimensions
1/2"-20 x 3.250" x 6.75"
8.25 diff tube should be 3"
If your tube is only 2.75" let me know. I have a spare set of procomp ubolt & hardware kit for beer ;D & I'm probably closer then standens

I don't think so, but it does have the ARB logo on it.
I am in the NE alot. I live in taradale and work at the NE Costco.
I didn't even think to check the book, haynes manual right?
thanks and I will have a look at that.
cheers

4 degree shims are sold, 6 degree still available.
