just wanted to see what areas were hit with the rolling power outages.
I am in taradale and it kept going on and off, same in pineridge(I would assume most of the NE from 16th ave over and maybe barlow)
made making salmon in the oven a bit harderand slower :(
traffic lights were out on the way home too
-
There's electricity in the NE?
Wow...things have improved a lot since I lived in Pineridge! ;D

Here in the deep SE (God's Country) they keep the power on for us. They even made it flicker so we could pick out the people susceptible to seizures. :o
I think they had problems in the north all the way up to Edmonton :D
Really though, I think most of the problems were from the Ogden industrial area to the north, including the NW. Our company had about 5 or so high voltage emergency calls within a few hours.

I was up near the NW cotsco having dinner when the power went up for that whole shopping area. Fortunately we already had our meal and the restaurant had big windows with natural light. Made paying at the end difficult. Had to leave my CC number for them to run thru later.
Got home to Cochrane and the lights flickered a lot, kept resetting my ASDL modem but never went completely out.

I live out West of Calgary the storm hit here as rain first...then 50+ kph winds then finally snow and the winds.
Lost power at about 5:30pm and did not get it back until 10:15pm that night (good thing I have a gas stove to cook dinner!) even got snow drifts here 1/2 foot deep!
I have a video I recorded as the storm was INTENSE I could not see 3 ft. past the lens...but sadly I can't upload it from home. (damn dial-up..)
I'll try to post some pictures later. :-\

You guys had it easy. I had to work at the airport last night for a little overtime, and I wore shorts because it was such a nice day early in the afternoon. The storm hit us pretty fast and we had downed power lines at the airport near our Tank Farm where we store 20 million litres of Jet-A1 fuel. The whole airport lost power to it's hydrant systems . Planes were grounded at their terminals, and delays ensued. I was getting thrown around the ramp ; trying to reset the ESD system. The wind(9okms/hr) and snow swept me off my feet a few times(in shorts). I was leaving for the day and our company truck got stuck up to it's frame in snow .I didn't think I'd ever have to do a recovery at the airport . I should have stayed home.

I'm sitting in Lloydminster, took me 80 minutes to travel 30 miles this am, I got snow drifts higher than my tires on my Pete now and snow and wind aren't expected to slow down till tomorrow sometime, yee haw

Tubby, I know how you feel....I spent almost 8 years at the airport working for CanComAir, ATS, and WestJet on the ramp. We had to recover a 737 from the side of a taxi-way a few years ago as the maintenance guys couldn't see the edge of the taxi-way due to the snow...LOL
Here in Bridgeland we also have the seizure inducing power blips...poor tv didn't know what to do.

Haha, glad I had Friday off. I fix the airports Snow Removal equipment.....

I'm in Bridgeland as well and think we got off pretty easy there. I only had one actual power outage and somehow through all the blips my computer stay on and was unphased.

I work up in Skyview... the power went out at the showhome so I went home about 6:30... BIG accident on Country Hills at Barlow... about 10 cars, bunch in the ditch, about 6 of them made contact. White knuckle drive home to the SW to say the least.

Get ready for another questionable evening. Apparently half of Lethbridge is out, Taber is out. Sounds like the south half of the province is having problems.
-
Most of Lethbridge was out. This morning there were only three services stations with power and two hour line ups for fuel. Only one Tim Hortons open - long line.
Power started coming back on after lunch. But not for downtown offices. Still areas without power - we're in a lucky area so I get to spend extra time in the garage today.
