I live in an apartment and wondering where I could store my hardtop for the summer for cheap
-
parents house maybe .. or work ..
i wanna sell mine but im still pondering that
-
I was keeping it at work but we moved to a bigger warehouse but for some reason there isn't enough room now. And all my relatives are in ontario or Ireland
-
Rent a self storage garage ( That would pretty costly I imagine.) or run soft top year around and sell the hard top.
-
sell the hardtop, run the soft top all year. i did that and didnt have a problem in winter.
-
I would really like to keep the hardtop if i can
-
I have been running soft top only for three years now. My hard top is just sitting there wasting away and taking up space. Sell it.
I hear ya though. I would have a tough time selling mine too!
-
i vote sell it too.
My 97 TJ and 03TJ NEVER had a hardtop. Zero complaints. Actually with the soft top, i never had frost buildup on the windshield...ever!
i never was cold...ever.

Get or build one of these and wheel that top right into the apartment

Soft tops don't like winters... Learn that the hard way with my GF's Jeep. ...plastic breaks easy at -20C. :(

Then put longer legs on your bed and store it underneath ;)
-
If you have enough clearance in your garage a set of pulleys, steel rope and a PA hand winch hangs it on the ceiling. ($50.00 tops)
I back in underneath it and gentle lower the top back on the jeep when I need it.

i like that idea it wouldnt work for me cuz i have a king but hey you never know what he has

i might be able to store it in my back yard

I have the exact same problem, live in an apartment, no relatives here.... I have been looking up storage locker pricing, and it is pretty expensive.. I am still looking for a place that maybe has a seasonal rate... if I find anything reasonable I will let you know!

maybe a bunch of you should look at renting one and keeping them there all summer. like 10 or something.
or maybe i'll build a rack in my garage to hold 5 or 6 and take Pats idea; 'johnnies hardtop storage' hahahahaha
FWIW, i sold my hardtop cause i got sick of looking at it. regrets for winter? yes; jeep is cold; and i dont' like wearing gloves, etc. (funny i know)

I know this isn't an option for the original poster with an apartment, but here is the plan I followed to put mine up in my garage:

I think I paid $40 for a worm gear hand winch and probably around $30-50 for cables and clamps. All from Princess Auto

Thanks for putting up the pictures I've been considering rigging this up for the past few weeks.
I've also been considering making a wall mounted one, maybe with an arm on a sturdy hinge, something that might only take one pulley, then I can just back in flip it up for storage, and flip it down when I go to put it back on for the winter.

Check out the RV storage places, probably a bit cheaper than indoor storage. Also check the campground on the highway between Airdrie and Balzac. I know some storage places offer outdoor storage for cars ect.

i got a yard out side calgary that you can store it for like $50 i can throw it inside one of my big barns
