Last time I was a national, Deano was talking to me about this black textured coating (not paint) that could by done on rims. It had a fine gritty texture to it. Not your typical bedliner.
My neighbor is looking at painting his stock JK wheels black to get rid of the chrome. Depending on the price, it may be cheaper than buying wheels. It's a pavement princess so it doesn't have to hold up to much abuse...
Anyone know what this is and where to get it done?

Powdercoating?
Use Top Gun Coating in Calgary.

I guess it could be a powdercoat. I have just never seen one before with a sand paper type finish

With a finish like that, it would be hard to keep clean. All the dirt would want to stick in the rough coating.....Tell your neighbor to take the rims to Top Gun Coatings and have them coat it however he wants. They even have some coatings that have a crinkle to them

the construction forman used Calgary Powder Coatings Inc for his BMW and they looked great.
they acid dipped them, then coated them for 75 bucks a wheel(that was for a 17 but costs are likely close for most wheels)
he liked the work they did and it was quick too.
