Anything other than the 4.2 will be a custom conversion. I see your options as either a 4.0 or Chev V8 as the simplist. I think the 4.0 would be simpler but others would argue that point. Either way to pay someone to do it will cost a fair bit.

If you aren't already into the rig for a lot(lift, lockers, etc),  I would consider selling it and buying a newer rig with a 4.0.

Agreed, but it your willing to, theres nothing sexier than a v8 growl from a yj.

I agree but I would take a smooth running 4.0efi over, carbed V8 anyday. I'll never run a carb again. Now if you did a V8efi well thats different, but also adds another level of complexity.

If I was doing the swap myself I'm not sure what I'd do. I probably wouldn't do a Chev V8, but thats just cause I like to be different. Would probably do a Dodge or AMC.

Eeewww! (sorry cLAY):D  I have a HO 305 EFI swaped into my '90 YJ. I did it all myself and I'm lovin' it. If I was to start over, I would go with a Vortec 4.3. It's a little bit lighter, and has the same power, plus way more room to work. It's also way cheaper for parts ect., then the Jeep 4.0. If you can't do it your self though..............sell it and buy one that's done allready.
