Title: Best lift kit for 05 TJ
Post by: Impact on February 02, 2006, 10:16:35 PM
Hi All,
Last summer I bought an Impact Orange 05 TJ Sport with the 30/44 combo, 3:73 gears and 6 spd standard. It's an addiction for JEEP   .
After five months I have finally decided that the TJ is definately in need of a suspension lift but I can not decided what brand of lift or height to go with. That's why I have come to the TRUE experts :) . I want to start off with just a short arm suspension lift and some 33" tires and later add a body lift and some 35's. I was thinking about going with a 4" skyjacker standard lift with a t-case drop kit. That leads me to my next big question ? I have talked to several different companies like skyjacker, pro comp, tera flex, full traction, fabtech and R.E. They all seem to have their own ideas about the SYE and CV drive shaft. I do a lot of highway driving and I don't want a lot of drive shaft vibration.Do you need a SYE and CV with only a 4" suspension lift? What is a good suspension lift (No long arm) to go with ?
Any help would be great.

George

If you are going to do a lot of highway driving I'd recommend avoiding more then a 2" lift.

OME is highly recommended by pretty much everyone, and when you want to change it up, it will actually resell.

Skyjacker is not nicknamed skycrapper for nothing. The basic skyjunk 4" is an overpriced, low quality, PoS of a lift. I've worked on, repaired, and or changed out a couple for guys now.

In my opinion either start small with quality parts (ome springs, jks track bars, control arms, currie compenents, RE, Rockkrawler, etc etc), or wait until you have enough to do what you really want to do.

For ordering I recommend Rob at Hoyboyz down south. Good service, and better prices then most.

Can call him at 403-317-5741

Or email for price quotes [email protected]

Good luck

love my RE lift... absolutely happy with every piece of it.

as for price, I went with North Short Offroad out of Vancouver... with shocks, RE6030 (XJ 3.5" lift with full rear springs) and a clinometer, if I remember, including shipping it cost me around $900... that lift alone in town is more than that $951 (http://www.partskart.com/products.php?ID=101102)...

If you build it too big, you will have many headaches, poor gas millage and potentially loose that warrenty that paid big bucks for.

If you want to build up a monster buy a 97TJ, for $5000 (there out there) and invest you money into moding that.

As for you your nice new Jeep, I think a max of 4" of lift and 33" with a winch should get you everywhere you need to go and you'll still have lots of fun.
