girlfriend is sick of the TJ. she wants something bigger, better in the 'windy conditions' and just not as boxy, confined, etc. u know all those things that wrangler owners get sick of.
anyways, she wants an Xterra, Pathfinder, WJ Grand, ford Escape or something along those lines. now, i know nothing bout these, so what am i looking for in such a vehicle?
thanks a bunch for any help you can provide; naturally whatever breaks on this vehicle, i'll be fixing so i'd like to the most info i can get!
thanks

the Xterra, Pathfinders are hard on fuel to what I have read. Ask Trevor about the Escape. What about a 4 runner or rav 4 from yoda. and The grand are very nice.

Buy her a cherokee :D
-
She wants to dump a Jeep in favour of a Ford? Time to get out of that relationship.... ;D
-
i read the title and thought you were talking about vinman. i think he wants a TJ again. you guys should work out a trade
-
This is like the third or fourth time that she's wanted to get rid of the TJ?
Dude? I thought she was loving the new rims and tires? WTF?
If she has her heart set on a Pathy or Xterra; give RubioJeffO3 a call. His brother is a mechanic for a Nissan dealership and can give you the skinny on their vehicles

what does he have?
didn't he just sell a rather kickass jeep?

nicely ask her to test drive a Liberty... find a nice 2005+ renegade or limited. auto diesel would be nice but not too common.
-
Nissans are bad for rust, making them not a lot of fun to work on.
-
The Ford Escape are quite nice or check out the Subaru Forresters. My fiance has a forrester and it is a great car, actually looking at getting her a new one.
Also toyotas are great vehicles and you used to have to pay a premium for them (don't know if that still holds true since the whole recall thingy), but 4runners are great.
-
thanks for the headsup billy; she's on the fence about the Xterra/pathfinder.
personally, i like the 4runner option. i am guessing they hold value a lot better, and seems she's as bad as me for keeping vehicles...

My parents drives a 98 4 runner and the vehicle has been great. Not the greatest on gas but they have improved that. Also the vehicle has about 190,000 kms and the brakes have not yet been replaced so they are a quality vehicle. They definitely hold their value very well and they are built in Japan, so no gas pedal issues

how old is she looking at? the xterras were pretty decent off road, but a 4-runner would be on par or better, and comes with toyota quality. the ford escape is on par with a patriot, or rav 4. front drive with rear wheel assist. my parents bought an '09 rav 4 and they like it but its a street and gravel road only. the liberty would be a nice choise as well. get her to test drive a few different vehicles and see what she wants to drive, not what you want her to drive, hahaha!

I'd introduce her to the Calgary transit system... she'll be begging for the TJ in about... 1day ;)
-
Have you explained the very simple fact that all women look sexy driving a jeep........ wait for the next +20 day and take her to test drive other vehicles, just make sure you take her TJ with the top down, she will remember why she puts up with the horrific crosswinds in a hurry.
