How can i find out which kinds of transmissions will fit into my '99 XJ (5 speed manual), my newly bought is in need of a replacement, and where i can find one for a fair price.

You will need one out of an XJ and maybe a ZJ if they came with manuals.  The bolt pattern on the back of TJs trannies are clocked differently and probably will not fit

91 and up XJ's with a 4.0 5spd will have the matching transmission, so will 91-95 YJ's with the 4.0. TJ's I'm not sure about.

Actually i got mine checked out, turns out its fine. Fixed now too. Thanks though.
