Title: RANT; fu*cking scrap guys
Post by: JENSSEN on May 20, 2010, 06:35:15 PM
Noel was kind enough to drop some leaf springs so I can mock up a new "flexy" rear suspension. I came home today to find where he had put them and some fawker took not only those but my spare steel pieces and all my xj alum rims. So now I have a long weekend to build and no f'ing parts

I knew you would make a rant about this Jens!

This happens more often than you think pal. The price of scrap metal went up and the "scrap guys" know you have projects on the go all the time.  You need to make a locking bin or something. I'll keep an eye out for more usable leafs.  Get Blasphemy running and ready for HRC.
Good luck this year!

Yep, I've had them come into my yard thru a closed gate before. Fortunately I was working in the garage at the time and saw him snooping around the leaf spring pile I had. Gave him crap and told him if I saw him in ANYBODYS yard in my neighborhood again I'd report him for trespassing.

2 weeks later some pipe I left laying outside the garage door went missing....

If someone came into my yard, I don't think they'd hear that after the hammer I threw hit them upside the head.

the 99 Dodge ones may be interesting , I have to review the lenth and weight on them. Stock XJ leafs are going away, I need the longer FS truck springs to be more flexy ,.. I may be digging in the JY this weekend

the 99s are 2.5" wide, and don't quote me, 63" long, eye to eye. not 100% sure on length. can measure when i'm back from camping this weekend.  if weather sucks and i'm back sunday i'll be tossin the new leafs in the truck sunday, and you can have the stock ones after that.......

unless you find something cool in the JY!

MJ leaks are longer than XJ and I always thought they would work well as a flexier XJ leaf. I figured I'd take the top 2 MJ leafs and stack the XJ ones underneath....
The front leafs of off a full size Jeep Wagoneer have a lot of arch to them, are thin and make good donors for homemade XJ lift packs.
