flex a lit bolts rite in, sure its a pricey unit but works much better. ive had mine for6 years of daily driving, winter and summer, packed with mud, snow, and all sorts. even after the control box was full of mud i pulled it apart and cleaned it up, worked fine.

i think what you mean is that it worked great on the road, then it failed within 1 hour after packing it with mud. thats my guess.

I'm with Eric on the use of Flexalite fans. My CJ had a pusher, and a puller on it. I abused the heck out of it , and it still worked after five years without so much as a whimper.(uber expensive though)  I've also had a modicum of success with the Taurus fan as well, and they are readily available at junkyards for cheap. Do some research as CFM varies over the years, and some modifications will have to be done to make it work for your application.

Good luck with whatever route you choose!

i had mine hooked to a switch to shut it off when crossing water or mud still it craped out .........that being said i have read 100s of reviews about how well they work for " years " !!!  as said above its just my experience  :-\

How much is a flex lite system?
How much is the Taurus?

i have heard nothing but good things regarding the Taurus system.

Flex-A-Lite $300.00
Tarus $13.00

Do the math

The taurus is a little over 100$ to set up including the relay, switch, solenoid, and wiring required to run one reliably.

All electrics are inferior to mechanicals when it comes to moving air, but if you need to use an electric, the taurus is the more sensible way to go. Grab a few from the boneyard, and throw one in. keep the others for spares.

That said, I recommend staying with a mechanical clutch fan unless you absolutely cant.
