also, my syncros are gone. 3rd is rough 5 i can fell a lil grind.......... whats better.
need this tranny to last through winter.....

Johnny, our year of AX-15 calls for GL5. I have always used GL5 with no problems. The current oil in mine is a GL4 product and I don't think it runs as good as when I used GL5. I will be switching back shortly to Redline 75w-90 synthetic

its like our jeeps are long lost twins....
so the GL5 is a 75w140? how much do i need scott? where can i get it?

John, I got my Redline at PartsSource.

johnny i can snag about 300 litres of mopar 75w140 synthetic if you like.
-
Now, would that work just as well on my '97 XJ (insert XJ jokes here..............................)?
-
trev it only needs fluid if you drive it :o
i can't see it not being the same. its the same tranny right?
-
true.
halfers on the 300L that Heaps will snag for us? LOL!!!
-
damn i need 75/140 non synthetic... just saying
-
85/140 Al, and Im picking up 40 litres of it on friday
-
Read on NAXJA about GL5... it has sulfur in it I beleive... it's GL4 or 5 one of the 2 eats away the syncro.I'm not 100% sure which one ... it's early
I use Lucas 75W90 fully synthetic (red line, royalpurple) I noticed a difference...it shifts smoother.

I am not sure if you need the 75w140, but any good synthetic like redline, royal purple, etc in 75w90 and you will notice a big difference. I just mine at Mopac and the capacity is about 3.5L

It is the GL5 that has sulfur but I have never had an issue with running GL5. My tranny actually shifters better with GL5 vs GL4. According to the Amsoil website, the GL3 / GL4 requirement started in 1998, pervious years call for GL5 and later years call for GL3 or GL4
