March 4th
I am going to take my family out for their first off road experience in the jeep. I was thinking that I would take them into Margaret Lake for a bonfire. I promised my son he could see the bridge the CJA built so I would go in on Lost Knife. Nice easy run in.
I plan to start out early and have lots of time at Margaret Lake to let the kids have a break from being in the jeep. I will bring the hot chocolate pot for the fire.
It is an open run, non jeeps invited, but must have tow points front and rear, tow straps, CB radio, decent tires. This is winter wheeling so be prepared.
Let me know who is interested in coming out, kids, families or new faces. Hopefully some of the experienced members will come out for the hot chocolate and fire.
It’s a few weeks away so let me know what level of interest we have.
Thanks,
Blair

That sound like fun I would probley be in for that if the weather dosent get to cold,. My kids are still pretty young so weather would be the deciding factor.

Weather will be key for us as well. Our kids that are coming out are 4 and 6 1/2, we are leaving the baby at home with his grandmother. I hope we are out of the cold snap by then. Thanks Terry for the interest.

I am still planning an easy run on the Saturday March 4th.
I would appreciate info on trail conditions from anyone that is out playing in the snow this weekend. How much snow is on the trails?
Thanks,
Blair

I'm looking forward to this run Blair, thanks for putting it together. Had you thought about a meeting time/place? Smitty's for breakfast at :?:
The snow in Cochrane looks to be about the same as in the city. I imagine there is a little more as you move west. I'm sure there will be enough for you to build a snowman with your kids

Glad to hear you are coming out Ian.
I was thinking we would leave Smittys at 9:00. Do you think that would give us enough time to get into Margaret Lake for between 12:00-1:00? Or would you like to leave earlier?
Thanks, Blair
-
That should be no problem at all. 9 will be fine.

It was extremely cold this morning but we were out in the area today. There's about 2" less out there than in Calgary. The ice wasn't bad under the snow but we didn't do any hills to speak of.

I hope you can make it out Dom. The weather forecast is improving for Saturday. It should be a good day on the trails.

ONE MORE DAY
It has been the week from hell and I can not wait to get out on Saturday for a good time.
So far I know of four vehicles that have committed this week to coming out and a few more that have shown interest over the last few weeks.
Leaving Smitty's in Cochrane at 9:00. I will likely be there early for breakfast, if I can get the family up early enough.
See you Saturday,
Blair
