Title: Remove stock side steps (JK Unlimited)
Post by: jeepgrl on June 30, 2010, 10:36:41 PM
I'm trying to get the stock side steps off my JK to install some body armour.  I've been able to get the undercarriage bolts off, but it doesn't seem to want to come out... any thoughts?

On my 2 dr there was 2 bolts  going into the frame, and 4 10mm nuts going thru the pinch seam. Once the 6 bolts were removed my steps or Rubi rails fall off.  The nuts are in the same general location as the bolt. Hope it helps. If you need I can get a pic of my steps as they are in my shed.

that looks like blood.  is it mandatory to use blood as a lubricant when cutting metal with a chainsaw?  If you say yes, I am not interested in chainsaw-ing with you...great pic tho.

belt dressing works good as a lubricant too................

i've heard sledge hammers and sawzalls work to take off body panels........ or side steps......... rocks work too.  but i don't have rocks........ got a hammer though ;)

Damn... I didn't think of the chainsaw... got them off with alot of force and dremmeled the others that didn't want to come off (being a girl and all, I'm not THAT strong, and I have zero patience for these things)
