hi guys, we are looking to swap the v6 out of an 86 comanche with a 4.0 out of a newer 91 cherokee my question seen as how the comanche is carberated are there any carberated intakes for the newer 4 liter?
-
That's a big swap. The fire wall needs modified, I don't believe there are any carbed 4.0's out there.
comancheclub.com is your friend, loads of information from guys who have done the swap

kewl, thanks i did find an intake from cliffords they make both carberated and tbi intakes for this engne. very good forum here guys

Not sure how much research you have done but putting a 4.0 into a pre '87 Commanchee isn't a strightforward deal. As said the firewall needs to be "massaged" in order for it to fit and the rad setup/mount is much different.
A 4.3L is an easier swap but if you have a complete parts XJ and like a bit of a challenge it can be done. If it was me though I'd move the FI over with it.

thanks clay, im waiting on admins on the comanche forum. but im ol school and im more in tune with carbs lol plus the headache of findn the fi wirng harness and so forth imho if ts carbed leave er carbed and cliffords has our option!

If I where you I would find a 3.4L out of a Camaro and pit it in. Still carbuerated and It's a bolt in swap
