So, I clearly have a sickness.......I was on the phone with Stan at Northridge and now my credit card is a little worse for wear.
I have purchased a new bumper and a Warn M8000, which Stan is going to bring down to the Show and Shine for me to pickup.....now comes the assistance part.
Anyone available to give me a hand with the installation? I am pretty sure I can get the bumper on and the winch installed, but I am a bit concerned about the setting up of the winch rope and what not.
There is incentives for this assistance, most likely some beer involved.
PM or send me an email if you feel like helping out a noob (you can even point and laugh and make rude comments if you like during the process).
Was kinda hoping to get it all done before the Drainage Weekend on the 25th of this month.

doesn't the winch come with the cable already loaded?

No Idea!!
I was just looking at the Warn Manual online and it outlined this multi-step process of how to put the winch rope on. Maybe it was for working with replacement ropes.......not sure.
I guess only time will tell!!
Being a noob is kinda fun, everything is new (and frustrating)!!

Not sure how badly anyone wants to see my Rubi with it's race ripped off, but if guys wanna try I am game. Just figured there would be way more cool stuff going on.

Okay, so Rosko and I got that thing installed and I got it wired up, there is power and it looks great!!
However, the Warn Operators manual talks about stretching the wire rope before the first use. Has anyone done this before?
I am gonna bring it by to have the "experts" inspect and critic my work.
In total the whole operation took longer than I expected somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 hours of actual work, and about an hour of standing around cussing and the designers of the bumper and the cursed mounting bolts on that Warn!!
Gotta say one of the highlight of the operation was removing the plastic air dam under the stock bumper, decided to go with the brute force method and when she released I delivered a complete K.O. to my self. (Knocked my chin square on the old bumper and LIGHTS OUT, no standing 8 on this one!!). :o
Oh well, as Simon's signature says, "Real Jeeps are built not bought, and I have the scares to prove it." , now I get it!!

when i stretched mine, i unspooled it and tied it down an alley to a telephone pole then held the brakes while i winched in. i used to do this without the brakes to wind it up nicely after a run.

Stretching the cable is a must and if you do not do it, it can drastically shorten the life of the cable. Al's technique is a good or hook onto another vehicle for resistances
