Title: NSG370 6 spd. into a YJ
Post by: JackstandJohnny on July 16, 2010, 12:06:18 AM
theres one for sale on kijiji, just wondering if this is a direct swap into a YJ.

i was debating a 3550 as well.

main reason is my 3rd gear synchro is completely shot; to the point of not really useing third, and 5th is going now to.

i've not done much research on this, yet but debating options instead of just rebuilding the AX 15.  i'm sure it'll bolt up to the 4L and NP231 tcases, just not sure on driveshaft length; probalby need custom ones?

cheers

the ax-15 isnt too bad to replace syncros. but, if you want to swap go for a nv3550 over the nsg370. 3550 should almost bolt right in whereas the nsg370 is a lot more work.

You should have rebuilt that AX-15 when you pulled it out to do the  leaky internal slave John. I have a " How To" rebuild manual and VHS tape on how to  do a rebuild if you want. The rebuild kit wasn't too expensive either.  Dom gave me some good advice last December when my AX-15 was going out the door. He said to " Lucas the crap out of it" and I did. 7 months later and my trans shifts like butter. Temporary fix but it works so far.

while i was at it, might as well have installed the SYE on the tcase, changed the main seal on the engine, and oil pump while i had the pan off, and installed the belly tuck for the tcase cause i had it all out.......................

i think i'm just going to run 5w30 in the tranny and see how long it runs till it explodes ;)

how much lucas? i JUST changed the fluid to0................
