I believe any YJ, TJ, or XJ will fit from a 2.5L or 4.0L

Post by: LLYJ on July 30, 2010, 11:19:29 AM: Just curious on the theory of this but instead of me installing an isolater for a second battery, what would happen if I installed a second alternator connected only to the second batt running winch, lights and my taurus fan, would the ground circuit have to be isolated as well as the positive side, or can ground circuit be shared ? I am wondering if this would be more dependable than the isolater as I have read alot of warnings that they fail often - any thoughts from electrical guys on that idea ?

I would think running two alternators would also prevent getting stuck in the woods if one failed too

I have to modify my serpentine for my york comp anyway so bracketing in the second alternator wouldn't be a big deal (I am running a second pully off the crank for this already

a separate circuit for each alternator to each battery, without an isolater

or, two alternators wired parallel with the isolater

( I was going to order a high amp but I already have both a good 65 and 90 amp, so why not use em if I can)

Post by: FiEND on July 30, 2010, 06:34:33 PM: i have 2 batteries without an isolator and it works very well. my alt is prob a 90. if i find a 120+ at the junkyard i may get it but not a priority. 99% of the time the 2nd battery is just wasting fuel.

You get a random live rodent with alternators now. It's a much less fragrant marketing gimmick. :D

Post by: jeepjones on August 01, 2010, 10:25:29 PM: Just to let you guys know, a 1998 Dodge 1 ton alternator will fit in a '98 Jeep TJ no mods needed, although it is much larger it will fit right in.
