I'd love to get out again next weekend! But... I'm still new to my Rubicon and don't know where to go either. I was just out at Mclean Creek on Saturday with a really good group. I guess if there's anyone out there that has better knowledge of the trails and wants to come out for the day?? I don't have a CB radio yet, but it's on it's way!

Has anyone done the trail to the lake/reservoir at Cobble flats? I haven't done it but it looks kind of fun from the map. just throwing it out there. I will try to make it.

Did it backwards a few years ago, just up to first bridge. That section was pretty easy, but don't remember any lake.

I would be up for the 8th
no winch, but tow points and 31's on my WJ
-
Would love to go out on either day...was thinking about staying out there!! Anyone else wanna go camping?
-
I'am down for the 8th where do u plan on going /meeting time
-
well you guys want to meet at the Smitty's in cochrane at 9am on sunday the 8Th and we can just do the falls run. i don't care what run we do but that's the only one i know out in waiprouse.
-
I haven't been to Waiporous all summer. I can lead to the Lake after the falls.

Is this the sort of run that I could go on with a stock jeep? Got a girl that I'm hanging out Sunday and we want to play with the Jeep, and I'm not too sure about going wheeling alone with no winch so, any feedback?

You will have no problem in a stock Jeep. I've done the Falls and Lake in a bagged -out Suburu Brat before. Bring some foul weather gear, first aid kit, proper foot wear(no flip-flops), and bug spray, water to drink, and a positive atitude. A fire extinguisher is a good idea. There will a lot of people to assist/guide you if you are unsure out there. Be prepared to get some trail scratches though.
Have fun out there!

+1 on what Tubby is saying. From what your pictures show, you'll do quite well on any of the "stocker" type runs that normally show up in this opens section. You've got recovery points and good MT tires.
In addition to the "Rocky Mountain Pinstriping" that Tubby was talking about, I will tell you that based on my own experience a stock 4 door JK will also get very good use out of the gas tank skid plate. ;)

Trail rash, damaged skid plates, that bad hey? I'm down with trying almost anything, and I do want to go Jeeping, I guess I just worry about the consequences. I figure the skid plates are designed for those purposes, but what sort of damage could I be getting on my Jeep up at waiprous? Cosmetics aren't a big concern, it's the fact that it's my Daily Driver and I need it for work...

You WILL get trail rash and just remember "only the first scratch hurts". As for the skid plates, they get banged and dinged, but that is what they are for, you will have to hit one REALLY hard to damage it, and if that happens you are probably doing something you shouldn't be.
Just my .02.

This is wheeling my friend...anything could happen. Don't sweat it too much and just have fun. No one is going to force you to tackle obstacles(Waiporous has some? Snicker) that you're not comfortable with. You will be following a lot of people who have some experience out there. This area is tame(think stock Geo Tracker doable) compared to other places. Be cautious and use common sense and you should be fine. Someone will probably hop in your passenger seat if there is an obstacle that looks menacing but I'm sure that you'll be just fine.
Go out there and make friends with people who have similar vehicles as yourself and ask as many questions as you want. People in the Jeepin community are uber helpful.

Dirk, take highway 1 west to highway 22 then turn right (North) to Highway 1A. Smitty's is on the west side of highway 22 once you get there. See the attached map.
