Just purchased my first new vehicle, and it turned out being a Wrangler! Haha greatest vehicle I have ever driven... I've been finding some light offroading to play around with it up in North Calgary, been a bit of fun but I'm looking to get into more of a Jeep Community and do some real trail running! I do however think that there is probably alot of work I need to put into it before I can actually go offroad...

if you have a rear tow hook your good to go on most open runs ;D

The islander and mountain wranglers sure are pretty haha.
Are they Rubicons ?

Don't underestimate the stock capabilities of a Rubicon/Mountain/Islander. You will be surprised how far you can get. Nice jeep :)
-
Nice Rig!! Love the color!
Hope to see you out there!!

Hmmmm....what does the Islander package have in it?
Looks like Rubi tires (which is not a bad start). What are the chances that it's got a Rubi transfer case and axles? Anyone know? Regardless, you will be absolutely floored by what you Jeep can do, even if it has no Rubicon "Extras" beyond the MT tires.
As Kyle said, if you have a rear recovery point (or a hitch with a recovery point slid into it), you're good to go for many open runs, and

islanders have the rubi wheels/tires, but stock 30/44 axle combo as well as regular t/case. the deal is in the looks and different interior options. the blue is awesome. the interior has blue accents to match. mountain versions have same idea but dark grey rubi wheels, they look good too.
your jk is good to wheel right off the showroom floor. come out and join some open club runs. you will have a good time.

Nice Jeep and welcome. 8)
A bit of advice, stay out of the mud holes, both your jeep and wallet will thank you.

It is good advice, but I think it's the kind of thing you need to experience first hand, mud puddles will be loads of fun until you bust your release bearing/clutch :P

good to see a thriving community here! And yes, the Islander is essentially a sport with a few goodies, such as the Rubicon Tire and rim Package, which is a nice start, some good rubber slush mats, a convenient storage bag for the roof panels which clips on to the rear sits, and it looks like it comes stock with a rear recovery point as well? Included a picture to see if you guys approve. The other thing that it comes with, which isnt on any of the brochures, websites, or anywhere that I can find, is the Rubicon shocks, which seems like a bit of a random add-on but I'm not complaining! Those red shocks look good from the back. But ya! just saying "Hola" to the community, and hopefully I will see you all out on the trails one of these days soon!
Oh, and pardon the dirty pictures. I found a really neat sort of hilly/muddy/ watery area up near where my friend is constructing her house so I figured what the heck, I wouldn't take my fathers Subaru up in that area so lets see what this Jeep does. Haha, good fun!
Pceee

For me it was the first $30.oo car wash. And it was still in all the cracks... I hate mud!
You'll be amazed at what your Jeep will be able to do. Word of advice before you take your brand-new vehicle off-road: Be prepared and willing to accept that it will get damaged. Unless you think dirt roads qualify as 'off road', it's just a matter of time.
After that, it's only the first one that hurts. ;)

That is a great color. It hasnt been available since 2003. I had a new jeep once that had that color :):)
