Title: Electrical Issues?
Post by: fraserr7 on September 02, 2010, 08:16:01 AM
I have a 97 TJ and I seem to be having some sort of electrical issues. At low rpm's my oil pressure gauge shows zero pressure. And just recently after a few minutes of the engine temperature being at full temperature, my voltage gauge climbs right to the top. Anybody have any ideas of what my problem might be?

put a voltmeter on your alternator to see how the charging is.  keep it on there until the cluster starts acting up.

hold your trip button in when you turn the key to on and it will do a gauge cluster self diagnostic

take your cluster off and clean all the connections...

- the oil pressure can be unrelated, it is quite common and usually means sending unit is bad, poor connection at sending unit.  can do a search for oil pressure and find more info.
