The CJA has been asked to fix a section of fence out at McLean. Do I have some volunteers that could help out with this? It would probably happen the weekend of the 18/19.
It's probably about 1-2 hours worth of work.
-
I should be able to come and give a hand.....do you need me to bring anything other than the standard load?
-
You can count me in.
How many volunteers are you looking for?
-
Got my fencing pliers ready to go!
What time? I'll meet you at the fence.
-
Thanks guys. I'll pick up some wire/staples this week. Let's meet at the store at 9:00 am on Saturday the 18th.
The fence in question is just south of the main staging area.
-
count me in if you need another hand. what tools should i bring?
-
Should be able to make it, I'll have a more definite answer next week.
-

I want to thank all of you who came out to help with the fence repairs. I'd like to acknowledge all of you on the forum and to SRD so please PM me if you were out.
Who ever has the pics, please send them to [email protected] so I can forward the info to SRD.
Please post up a description of all you did!

Big thank you to all the guys who went, it was my third run out with the Jeep and I had a great time!
Thanks for helping me through the tough stuff, and teaching me a little more about picking lines and what to watch out for.

it was definitely a good day, we fixed the main fence that SRD wanted fixed, it was actually 3 sections. one section we did a temporary fix as it needs post holes drilled with an auger, but anyways we managed to get a few temporary post up and marker ribbons for good visibility as that section of the fence was down for at least 3 years that i know of, so we wanted to make sure that those who are use to take that route can actually see the posts and wire. The other two sections by the creek we pulled new wire, nailed in few sections of the fence and then moved on through the mud bogs to get to the other fence. it was definitely one of the funnest runs I've been on. I'll email you the pictures that i have and Darren has the rest. Thanks for the help on the repair and a good wheeling trip. I need to get a snorkel to try the bigger mud holes ha ha.
i can post some before and after pics in here if you want.

Quick question for whomever worked on the gate next the the texas gate at the parking lot / bypass trail entrance.
Did you see any cattle on either side of the fence? Were any moo moo's escorted out of that bridge / river area before fixing the gate and/or repairing any holes or other sections of fence in that area?
-
There were no visible cows in the area.
-
Actually, when I review the pics I took, it looks like some cattle did wonder up while we were working on the second repair (they were not present when we did the first repair - they must have wondered up through the bush...about 200 m from where we were working). They were on the 'outside' of the fence.
-
Sounds good, thanks.
And thanks for doing it!
It made todays Watershed field study interesting by stumping the instructor ;D who was going to show how "someone" broke the fence and how the cattle are now in the river. They were in the river Friday because the fence was broke and had been for quite some time...
It's all about perception, and I perceive the instructor now has to find a new location to drive a 50' bus into to prove a point ;D
Good work!
I was actually pleasantly surprised that there wasn't really any OHV trash talk.
